MEMORY VERSE - Week#3

(Sorry it's late...)

This week we discussed being a "GOD CHASER"... why and how we can chase God. We learned about a 'father' and a 'son' (portrayed by Ola and Brodie respectively) where the Father just wanted to be with the son, and he was so excited that he could hang out with his son. The son however didn't have time to 'hang out' but desired his allowance, and for his father to fix his bike, etc. All he did was tell the father his wants, and then was off again. The father was saddened, because he wanted to tell the son so much, he wanted to spend time with his son, and share greater gifts (than an allowance) with him, but alas he was off again to spend time in the world. We discussed how this story was in fact like our relationship with God, and how we sometimes just come to God to 'talk' and give Him our prayer requests, but we don't truly spend time with Him. WOW! What an eye-opener... Made us think! (Hopefully it makes you think too!)

We also talked about 'being hungry', and I brought the young people 'TIMBITS' to eat... so I took small crumb size pieces off of one-two timbits, and gave them to each of the "GOD CHASERS"... they were a little disappointed to say the least, until one of them mentioned that 'this must have to do with the lesson'... LOL! I love teaching t'weens, they are still so real too! Later during the lesson, I asked how they were feeling... some had mentioned hungry. So I picked up the timbit box, and they got excited, and then I put it down, took one out and ate it... and then continued the lesson. (which was really hard for me, as I am not rude like that). One of the youth again mentioned, 'that's rude'... and other comments that told me they were not happy with my actions. We continued our lesson... and in the end, they desired more of timbits (and prayerfully more of God). Because of their 'hunger', they ran to the box of Timbits, when I put it in the middle of the room on the floor. However, again one of them asked, "How many do we get?"... they all just took one and waited. It was an amazing breakthrough, when they discussed after that they understood hunger... when I explained to them that they can be hungry for God just the same. Sometimes they just have a 'little taste' of God... but don't seem to want more. But they should, and they should be able to 'get more of God'. ONLY ONE THING CAN FILL OUR 'GOD-SHAPED' HOLE INSIDE... Obviously they knew it was GOD! (DO YOU KNOW THIS TRUTH IN YOUR OWN LIFE?) They were excited about that.

So our memory verse this week revolves around being HUNGRY! ARE YOU HUNGRY?

Our memory verse for SUNDAY, MAY 23rd was:
"ARE YOU HUNGRY?? Jesus, Jesus, He's the BREAD OF LIFE! He's the ONLY ONE who satisfies! John Chapter 6 Verse 35!"
(Hugga-Wugga Paraphrase)

"And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth in Me shall never thirst." (John 6:35 KJV)

"Then Jesus declared,'I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me will never go hungry, and he who believes in Me will never be thirsty." (John 6:35 NIV)
